ICD-10-CM: 2026 New Diagnosis Codes for Reportable Tumors

Annual ICD-10-CM Updates and Casefinding

ICD-10-CM codes are revised each year, with new codes becoming effective on October 1. The Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) uses these codes for casefinding and audits, including AHCA and Mortality audits, during its annual follow-back process. This process helps FCDS identify cancer cases that may have been missed or not reported.

SEER Recommendations and Supplemental Codes

The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program also recommends supplemental casefinding codes, including some that are not required by FCDS. These codes are used to flag conditions that may indicate cancer.

Casefinding Lists and Florida Reporting Requirements

SEER’s published casefinding list (https://seer.cancer.gov/tools/casefinding/) contains codes for “unspecified malignant neoplasms of the skin.” However, FCDS does not require these codes, as they seldom identify skin cancers that must be reported to FCDS. For reporting in Florida, only use the codes specified in the FCDS Data Acquisition Manual (DAM) or in the new additional code list.
