QC Corner - KIDNEY Grade
Codes 1-4 take priority over codes A-D
However, sometimes when we have a kidney primary site, the is a Fuhrman grade (1,2,3,4)
That is not valid!
We should code 9 if it mentions a Fuhrman grade.
It is so easy to overlook a Fuhrman grade, as the grades are 1,2,3 or 4 and that is what we are
supposed to code in the WHO/ISUP grade 1, 2, 3, 4
The Fuhrman grade is no longer used for coding grade for kidney cancers.
The WHO/ISUP grade us now used. If the Fuhrman grade is documented, code 9.
So, be careful with Kidney.
