FCDS RT Follow Back AUDIT FOR 2023

The Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) completed the matching process for the cancer cases from 2023 identified by various radiation treatment facilities with the corresponding data in the FCDS database.

To ensure accurate and complete reporting, the deadline for these radiation therapy facilities to submit the 2023 cancer cases identified through the Follow Back audit process has now been extended to March 31, 2025.

We encourage all radiation treatment facilities to take advantage of this extension and promptly report any cancer cases identified during the audit. Furthermore, we would like to remind facilities to submit any previously missed cancer cases from earlier years as soon as possible, as this information is vital for maintaining comprehensive cancer statistics.

The RT Follow Back process is an audit mandated by the Florida Department of Health (DOH) that focuses on ensuring compliance with state regulations regarding cancer incidence data reporting. It is essential for all facilities involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment to adhere to these requirements, which are designed to maintain accurate and timely reporting of cancer cases to enhance public health measures and research.

Facilities that do not fulfill the obligation of reporting cancer incidence data to the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) by the established deadlines will be referred to the Florida Department of Health (DOH) for non-compliance.

If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding the RT Follow Back process or the reporting requirements, please do not hesitate to reach out to your FCDS Field Coordinator, Angel (Sam) Saskia, at sangel@med.miami.edu.
